My statement on the occasion:

“The burden of care remains not just for a day. With genetic disease they think about how to manage month on month for years. Some loose hope in the process, there are suicide attempts, divorces, and even cases where euthanasia is demanded, logistics is a challenge to bring children for dialysis, or help move around, navigate basic needs such as going to washroom in the morning. As parents age these aspects become more challenging.
