Visit to CSIR-IGIB Facility for Cell and Gene Therapy
It was a moment of Pride and Hope to visit this new facility at CSIR ( Council of Scientific & Industrial Research) – IGIB ( Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology). They are being set up for working on a CRISPR-Cas9-based gene therapy for sickle cell anemia, aiming to make India one of the first countries to use this method.
Dr. Debojyoti Chakraborty – Principal Scientist -Expertise in molecular biology, CRISPR technology, and genetic engineering. Who is now working on this new therapy. He explained passionately about the work being done at this center.
The Indian Govt has a goal to eradicate the Diseases by 2047 and it is a step towards the goal. I wish and hope all the team member for a success.
