I was one of the “Expert Panelists” at Consultative Workshop on “Health Technology Assessment” (HTA) conducted by “Department of Health Research”, “Ministry of Health and Family Welfare” in India on 7th Dec 2023 at Habitat Centre, New Delhi. .

The objective was to discuss the current scenarios, identify challenges and to propose solutions.

I was in the panel of : “Criteria for Cost effectiveness analysis for Rare Diseases” Under the Chairperson Prof (Dr) Atul Goel, DGHS and Vice Chairperson Prof. G Karthikeyan, Cardiologist, AIIMS, New Delhi

Following 5 Thematic areas were part of discussion
1) Health Technology Assessment for New and Emerging Technology
2) Criteria for Cost effectiveness analysis for patented products / Rare Diseases
3) Adoption and Strengthening of Rapid HTA and Adaptive HTA – Limited Clinical evidence / time bound evidence generation,
4) Strengthening the Dissemination & adoption of HTA recommendations into policy
5) Systematic improvement of methodologies for HTA – robust, quality, Evidence, condition, timelines and modifiers.

#govtofindia has set up #HTAIn under the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) to facilitate the process of Transparent and evidence- informed decision making in the field of health, The main objective of HTAIn are maximizing health, minimising out of pocket Expenditure and minimizing inequality.
